Swiss Air Flights

Swiss Air AG was the product of a merge between Balair and Ad Astra Aero in 1931.  For 71 years Swissair was one of the major international airlines until the economic downturn after September 11.  The Swissair Group was renamed Sairgroup in 1997 and finally ceased operation on 31 March 2002.

The successor airline, Swiss International Air Lines was founded on 1st of April 2002 and took over most of the routes, planes and staff of Swissair.  In 2005, the German airline Lufthansa took Swiss International Air Lines over.

Swiss International Air Lines AG is the principal airline of Switzerland and its headquarters are based at Euro Airport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg near Basel.  It operates scheduled services in Europe and to North America, South America, Africa and Asia.  The fleet size of 87 airplanes flies to 80 destinations.

Swiss International Air Lines Group consists out of:  Edelweiss Air, Swiss Aviation Software, Swiss Aviation Training, Swiss European Air Lines, Swiss Private Aviation, Swiss Virtual Airline and Swiss World Cargo.  Swiss International Air Lines AG has codeshare agreements with: Adria Airways, Air Canada, Air France, Croatia Airlines, Blue 1, Edelweiss Air, Singapore Airlines, Thai Airways, TAM Airlines, Air Malta, ANA, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Continental Airlines, Egypt Air, EL Al, Lufthansa, LOT Polish Airlines, Qatar Airways, TAP Portugal, Turkish Airlines, Ukraine International Airlines, United Airlines and US Airways.
