Austrian Airline Flights

In September of 1957 Austrian Airlines was born out of a merger between Austrian Airways and Air Austria. Austrian Airlines made its first flight between Vienna, via Zurich, to London in March of 1958 in a 779 Vickers Viscount. Their domestic flight services commenced in May 1963, a few years later and its transatlantic services commenced in April 1969.

Austrian Airlines grew steadily throughout the 1970's with increased number of flights to both domestic and international destinations.  In keeping with the rapid growth of the airline, Austrian Airlines first bought 36% of Lauda Air. They then upped their share to 85.7% and acquired a 100% share in Tyrolean Airways. By April 1999 the airlines started offering online booking through the internet and its stock capital was increased to 3.4 billion. The airline bought Rheintalflug in 2001. This was later merged with Tyrolean Airways during 2002.

Now over 50 years old, Austrian Airlines owns on of the worlds most modern and technologically advanced fleets.  This airline believes in catering to its passengers’ needs and requirements to the highest of standards, with quality, security and reliability being its top priorities.
